The web clipper is unlike the cruder methods of saving webpages that exist in those browsers natively. An extension for Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Opera, and Microsoft Edge, and Internet Explorer, it allows you to quickly and easily save any webpage to a notebook in Evernote. The deluge of web pages would make the bookmarks manager just as impenetrable as the tabs were.Įvernote’s web clipper promises to create a home for those tabs. Bookmarking them would only delay the inevitable. I love it, and I think it’s one of the features of Evernote that saves me the most time and frustration.Anyone who has done just about anything on the internet has at some point been overwhelmed with the stampede of open tabs from blogs, news articles, social media sites, and the like that feel too important to close but not urgent enough to read.
Now, you should have a list of all your notes marked with that tag, including the notes created from using the Web Clipper. (Hint: Perform a tag search, and not a word search.) I recommend just using the tag as your only filter to start your search. Now, head over to Evernote and perform a search for your tag. Hit save, and watch the clipper do its magic. You can even create a new tag while you’re creating the clip. For example, I’ve got a tag for recipes, post ideas, training, templates, etc. The tag is crucial! I’ve got tags for all kinds of useful information for me. I suggest you try out each of these options to see which one works best for you for the way you will be using the web clipper.Īfter you’ve made you clip, make sure to assign it to a notebook in Evernote and give it a tag. This is handy if all you want is a screenshot to share. Screenshot: This choices just creates a simple screenshot for you.Bookmark: This choice creates a little bookmark summary for you in Evernote.It copies the entire page for you and adds it to Evernote. I like this option because it copies just about all of the information I need, while also using up fewer resources. Evernote creates a simpler, or what I call Evernote friendly, version of the post to clip. If you are copying a long article with lots of media, the clipping process can take a few minutes, and the clip will be a pretty large file. The web clipper draws a green box around the content it will copy and clip for you. This option copies the entire article (the content) into Evernote. Now, I’ve got a few choices for how I want to clip the article to Evernote. Once I do this, the Evernote Web Clipper window opens. Second, when I find a great article on the internet, I open the Web Clipper by clicking on the Evernote Elephant Logo up on my Chrome tool bar.

The Web Clipper is free with any free or paid Evernote account. Now, I’ve got a recipe book right inside Evernote! How it worksįirst, I’ve installed the Web Clipper as a Chrome Extension. I also use the Web Clipper to save and organize all the recipes I find online. Then, I can go back to Evernote and quickly and easily find all the articles I’ve saved. It lets me organize the articles I find as it saves the clip to Evernote. So, I use Evernote’s Web Clipper for Chrome instead. However, I often have a hard time finding the article again in my super long list of bookmarks. I may think the article is a great resource, or I may want to share it on social media. I’m always finding little tidbits and articles on the Internet that I want to save. In this 10 minute tutorial, I want to show you how I use one of my favorite features of Evernote, the Web Clipper for Chrome.
